I did a version of this baby shower almost a year ago, and I called it B is for baby, book, bloggers and brunch! <—Click for deets! I utilized the same printables from Love the Day, but this time I really played up the book theme and got rid of the blogger thing! I also love that the book theme can inspire an entire menu!
Let’s start with food, here are some book inspired baby shower food ideas:
- If You Give a Cat a Cupcake: Cupcakes
- Green Eggs and Ham: Mini quiches with eggs and ham or deviled eggs with green food coloring or the super easy cookies in the picture above
- The Very Hungry Caterpillar: Fruit skewers
- Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs: Crock pot meatballs
- One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish : Rainbow goldfish and Swedish fish
- Sylvia’s Spinach: Spinach artichoke dip and tortilla chips
- If You Give a Moose a Muffin: Muffins (Store bought is A-ok!)
Psst: Those are Amazon Affiliate links to the kids books!
You can buy the kid books that go with the food and gift them to the mom to be or you can also just print out covers and frame! Either way, books make for fun, colorful decorations and a great baby shower menu. I used these little green egg and ham cookies as little treats on the coffee table.
As for decorations, I made a backdrop out of book pages! Y’all, this is super, super easy to make. Find a book you don’t mind destroying and rip 60 pages out of it. Use Scotch tape and tape 6 pages together to make a vertical strip. I used 6 pages per strip and made 10 strips. Then, I just taped each strip to the underside of the window molding. Easy peasy. You can see the full window view here. The B and BABY flags, the cupcake toppers, and the water bottle wrap arounds are all from this etsy store. I whipped up a “IS FOR” sign with some white printer paper and my handy dandy scissors.
I’m a fan of bottled water at parties. It’s easy!
The guest book we used for book baby shower is greatness! My friend, Amanda, makes guest books where each person can color in their own character! It worked out really well for our book theme. I had each guest write their favorite children’s book in the space provided. I was so impressed with how much time each guest took to color in the persons outfit, hair, and jewelry! It was a really fun activity to have and an awesome keep sake for the mama to be! (See all of Amanda’s creative guest books in her etsy shop, Forever Heyday!)
The other activity we did was the baby book quiz! You can download this free baby shower game and find the answers in this post.
As for favors, we kept it simple and book themed. I used Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? as inspiration!
