Girly California Baby Shower

Girly California Baby Shower

Marlan and Laurén of Twink + Sis are two wildly stylish sisters who know their way around a great party. For their latest installment captured by Jenna Elliott, they blanketed a gorgeous outdoor setting in every shade of pink to celebrate sweet baby Frankie on the way. A mix of succulents and astilbe, the prettiest blush glasses and donuts for dessert. This is just the kind of party that makes our hearts pitter patter.

We recently designed the #ciaobellafrankie baby shower for one of our dearest friends, Aubree. The theme was “Girly California." The shower ended up taking place on one of the hottest days of the year - it was over 100 degrees that day! So thank goodness the shower was in the evening. We let the hot weather dictate the decor by minimizing florals and opted out of making large arrangements (as we were afraid they would wilt too quickly). Instead, we used a ton of fabulous bud vases from Yummi candles, mixed with our friend Paige’s stunning crystal cups, that she inherited from her grandmother. Those added such a beautiful and special touch. We used an abundance of succulents, which ended up being the crowd favorite and doubled as party favors! They worked perfectly. Because we decided to have the succulents be the main attraction, we focused on garden roses as the key flower. We used 4 colors (in the pink and coral families) of garden roses, and added peach stock and astilbe as accents.

Pink, in all shades, was definitely the color of the day. We wanted the drinks to be various shades of pink, so we made a cherry lemonade, strawberry mint water and a boozy watermelon aqua fresca. We rounded out the bar with some ice cold rosé prosecco and sparkling mineral water. We loved the pink fleur de lis glasses from Town & Country so we decided to use to use those for all drinks. The guests loved them too. They were so pretty and girly. Dinner was the guest of honor’s favorite - South American Street food from ComidaLA, who cooked up their delicious made-to-order “arepas” (gluten-free flatbread made of corn meal and stuffed with a variety of meats, veggies, and their sauces). And for dessert, the unbelievably talented Emily from Whisk and Whittle, outdid herself with 5 stunning cakes and dozens of donuts - all with the most beautiful girly and flowery touch. She highlighted her gorgeous confections with roses, ranunculus and wax flowers. To make the dessert table extra gorgeous, we crafted extra-large paper flowers (using a template from Tania Fischer’s class) and strung gold and silver acrylic bunting from Meri Meri that read our evening’s hashtag (#cioabellafrankie), in honor of the baby girl on the way.
