baby shower food ideas and recipes

#1 – Easy Peasy Marshmallow Pops!

The first one on my list is the easiest to make but it has the most impact on guests. Make these at your own risk because your guests are going to hound you for the recipe!

These little lovely treats are going to be a major hit at your party. Plus you can make them for either a boy, girl or neutral baby shower.

Ingredients: You are going to need sprinkles, crushed nuts and coconut shreds in separate containers.

You are also going to need chocolate, big marshmallows and lollipop sticks.

  • Step 1: Insert the lollipop sticks half way into the marshmallows.
  • Step 2: Melt the chocolate in the microwave for thirty seconds at a time. Make sure to stir it after you take it out of the microwave. You should do this until the chocolate is evenly melted.
  • Step 3: Dip the plain white marshmallow lollipops into the chocolate and then roll them on your favorite toppings.

That’s it! You are done!

Special Tip: If you are having a gender reveal party then have your doctor tell your baby shower host the gender of the child. Your host can then get pink or blue marshmallows depending on the results.

Your host will then cover the lollipops with a neutral color frosting.

At the gender reveal party, each guest will get a marshmallow pop and on the count of three. They will bite into it revealing the gender of the baby.

#2 – Super Lifesaver Pacifier Candy

Now let’s make some lifesaver pacifier treats for your event!

The beauty about this treat, besides being super cute and easy to make, is it can go along and fit into any baby shower theme or color pattern that you can come up with. So without any further a due, lets learn to make these cute little things.

Ingredients & Supplies:

  • 1. You will need to buy some ribbons and cellophane to wrap up these baby shower favors but lets get to that later
  • 2. To hold everything together, or should I say “the glue” of it all, you are going to need powdered sugar and Meringue powder.
  • 3. It’s also important that your get a bag of Pep-O-Mint or Spearmint Lifesavers. The regular sized lifesaver rolls just WON’T cut it because they are way too small and they come in too many different colors.
  • 4. You are also going to need extra small jelly beans because normal sized jelly beans are just too BIG. Go to your supermarket and look for the jelly bean brand called “JELLY BELLY” (these are the perfect size!).

Three Simple Steps:

Step one, You will need to mix 1 cup of the powdered sugar, 1 tbsp of Meringue powder & 2 tbsp of warm water. Make sure you mix that for about five minutes. This mixture will be the adhesive (also called royal icing) for your lifesaver pacifiers!

Step two, unwrap your large lifesavers and put them together in pairs of two by adding the icing onto the edge of one lifesaver and sticking it in the middle of another lifesaver.

NOTE: It’s a good idea to apply the royal icing glue onto the edges of the lifesavers using chopsticks.

The icing will quickly stick the lifesavers together so you just have to hold them together for a moment. Place the pairs one by one on a cookie sheet for later, let them sit for about 15 minutes before going on to the next step.

Step three, put some more icing in the middle of your lifesaver pacifiers and then place your extra small “jelly belly” jelly bean in the center.

Hold it for a moment and then put it back on the cookie sheet. Again, let them sit after applying the jelly beans for about fifteen minutes.

  • Finger sandwiches
  • Cheese and crackers
  • Mini egg rolls w/ sweet & sour sauce

#5 – Colorful Drinks At a Snap!

Typical baby showers will have sodas, iced tea, water, and maybe even juices of some kind for their guest instead of alcohol. You can even go a step further and serve fun non-alcoholic drinks, like virgin daiquiris and martinis, so that your mommy-to-be can join in the fun!
