I was so excited to co-host my friend Andrea’s baby shower with another wedding planner, Sara Bauleke. Photographer Deb Lindsey was kind enough to let us take over her house AND she documented the baby shower for us! Andrea is from the Pacific Northwest, so we felt a “shower shower theme” would be the perfect theme for her. The shower invitation had this cute yellow duckie on it, so we incorporated that into the decor theme as well. Don’t miss the awesome vintage postage we used on the invitations. We DIY’ed and sourced stuff from all over the interwebs, please check the bottom of the post for credits!
Real Shower Planning Tip: always put something welcoming on the front door when you host a shower or other party at home. It lets guests know that they are in the right place and it is a great way to make a beautiful/fun first impression! For the interior decor, I made the felt clouds by hand (with exceptional help from my husband) and Sara made all the felt raindrops! We hung them all around Deb’s house. We did a rain cloud thumbprint guestbook to keep with the baby shower theme.
Andrea is the only person I know with a sweet tooth that is stronger than mine. So we started the brunch off with a mimosa bar and donuts. We dressed up the blue stripey straws with little duckies. My friend Kelly of Studio DIY made these amazing Seattle-themed ABC cards that we hung as a banner at the shower, and later gave to Andrea.
We had a classic brunch buffet with yogurt and granola, french toast casserole, beet and goat cheese salad, bacon, sausage, fruit salad and fritatta. The paper napkin rings were an easy and inexpensive way to add one more touch of our theme to the shower.
But the main event was definitely the dessert table. We had all of Andrea’s favorite cupcakes from Washington DC bake shop Baked & Wired plus mini Northwest berry pies and a cake with the Seattle skyline on it. For the backdrop, we wrapped a mirror that was already hanging on the wall with a raw piece of fabric and laid a simple table runner on the sideboard that was already under the mirror – easy peasy!
And as if there wasn’t already enough sugar at this shower, guests went home with cupcakes from Andrea’s other favorite Washington DC cupcake shop, Georgetown Cupcake. The cupcakes had umbrella toppers and the boxes had themed thank you tags affixed to them.
